Y, cuando la frase principal mira al futuro, when y as soon as no llevan will.
We are meeting the guide at nine. I am seeing the tutor on Thursday. Look at those clouds: it is going to rain. Will es la predicción sin esa prueba, a menudo con I think, y la decisión que nace mientras hablas: I think it will rain tomorrow. The phone is ringing: I'll answer it.
Incorrecto: I will meet the guide at nine si esa cita ya está en la agenda de los dos: el continuo del plan se pierde y suena a decisión de este segundo. Incorrecto: Look, it will rain cuando las nubes son la prueba: ahí la prueba pide going to. Correcto: We are meeting at nine. It is going to rain. I think the museum will be quiet.
I'll call you when I arrive. As soon as the visit finishes, we'll leave. Incorrecto: I'll call you when I will arrive. As soon as she will finish, we leave. Until funciona igual cuando el límite todavía no ha llegado: Wait here until the tutor comes. No until the tutor will come.
Los marcadores de esta lección son at this time tomorrow, this time next week, at eight tomorrow. At this time tomorrow I will be travelling to Salamanca. This time next week we will be doing the oral practice. Forma: will be más -ing. Incorrecto: At this time tomorrow I will travel si quieres la escena en curso, no el hecho de emprender el viaje en ese segundo. Incorrecto: I will be travel (falta -ing) y I will being travelling. Correcto: At this time tomorrow I will be sitting on the train.
Los marcadores son by Friday, by then, by the time. By Friday I will have finished the essay. By the time you arrive, we will have started. Forma: will have más participio (finished, started, written), no la base. Incorrecto: By Friday I will have finish y By Friday I will be finishing si el sentido es «ya estará hecho», no «estaré en ello». Correcto: By the time the bus leaves, I will have bought the ticket.
Agenda con otra persona: presente continuo. Intención o nubes: going to. I think o decisión de ahora: will. When y as soon as: presente. At this time tomorrow: will be más -ing. By Friday: will have más participio.
Dear tutor, we are meeting the museum guide on Thursday at nine. I am going to revise the notes tonight. I think the gallery will be quiet. At this time tomorrow I will be travelling to Salamanca. By Friday I will have finished the short report. I will send it as soon as I finish.
Paso 1.
Paso 2. At this time tomorrow I will be travelling es future continuous: a esa hora estarás en el viaje, en curso. El marcador elige el continuo, no will travel. By Friday I will have finished es future perfect: antes del viernes el informe ya está hecho. Finished es participio. Will have finish se queda corto.
Paso 3. As soon as I finish va en presente, y el will está en I will send, la principal. Incorrecto: I will send it as soon as I will finish.
Revise the notes: repasar los apuntes. Gallery: sala del museo. Quiet: en calma, poca gente. At this time tomorrow: mañana a esta hora; marca del future continuous. Report: informe corto. As soon as: en cuanto; detrás, presente.
Texto de clase:
Inés: Look at the sky. It is going to rain.
Mateo: Then I'll take a jacket. We are visiting the cloister at eleven. That's fixed.
Inés: At eleven I will be waiting at the gate. By the time you arrive, I will have bought the tickets.
Mateo: Call me when you get there. Don't call when you will get there: that sentence is wrong, and you know it.
Paso 1. Look at the sky es la prueba, así que is going to rain, no un I think it will vacío. I'll take a jacket es la decisión que nace al oír eso: will. Are visiting … That's fixed es plan cerrado, continuo, aunque Mateo lo diga después de un will. No contagies el will a la visita.
Paso 2. At eleven I will be waiting: a esa hora la espera estará en curso, future continuous. By the time you arrive, I will have bought: antes de que llegues, los billetes ya están comprados, future perfect, y arrive va en presente porque es el by the time que mira al futuro. No by the time you will arrive.
Paso 3. Mateo corrige en voz alta el fallo: when you get, no when you will get. Incorrecto: It will rain con el cielo como prueba; I will be buy; I will have buy. Correcto: It is going to rain. I will be waiting. I will have bought the tickets.
Gate: puerta. By the time: para cuando; marca del perfect, y el verbo que sigue va en presente. Tickets: entradas o billetes. Get there: llegar allí; presente detrás de when.
Incorrecto: At this time tomorrow I will have travelling, and by Friday I will be finished the essay when I will arrive. Correcto: At this time tomorrow I will be travelling. By Friday I will have finished the essay. I'll tell you when I arrive. El marcador by pide perfect. When pide presente.
At ten on Friday I will be writing the report.
Paso 2. Antes de que acabe el viernes ya está: By Friday evening I will have written the report.
Paso 3.
Tres preguntas. Ábrelas cuando hayas contestado, no antes.
At this time tomorrow I will be travelling.
Por qué: At this time tomorrow sitúa un punto del futuro en el que la acción está en curso, y eso es will be más -ing. Will have travelled diría que para esa hora el viaje ya ha terminado, que es el otro dibujo, el de la bandera.
Falta el participio. Se escribe By Friday I will have finished the report.
Por qué: By Friday es límite, no un punto en el que sigues trabajando, así que toca future perfect: will have más participio. Finish a secas no es participio, y will be finishing dejaría el viernes con el informe todavía abierto.
Solo en la principal. When I arrive va en presente.
Por qué: Cuando la principal ya es futura, when y as soon as no repiten el will. I'll call you when I will arrive pone el auxiliar en la temporal, y esa es la frase que el diálogo de la lección marca como incorrecta.
Agenda: presente continuo. Prueba o intención: going to. Opinión o decisión de ahora: will. When y as soon as: presente. Future continuous: will be + -ing, at this time tomorrow. Future perfect: will have + participio, by Friday.
Una buena idea suele… casar at this time tomorrow con will be -ing y by Friday con will have más participio.
